British Conservative politician.

Secretary of state for war from 1960 to June 1963, when he resigned on the disclosure of his involvement with Christine Keeler, mistress also of a Soviet naval attache. In 1982 Profumo became administrator of the social and educational settlement Toynbee Hall in London.
